Read with care
Not every highlighted passage is plagiarism
A bibliography entry, a correctly marked quotation, a technical phrase or your own prior work can all produce a match. Academic rules also differ between institutions and disciplines.
Do not edit solely to force the percentage down. Correct attribution and faithful wording matter more than a target score.
A reliable review sequence
- Open the strongest source match.
- Compare the full passage, not just the highlight.
- Check quotation marks and the in-text citation.
- Check whether the source appears in the reference list.
- Revise only where attribution or independence is unclear.
Common match types
What you may see in the report
Direct wording
A close or exact overlap. Verify quotation marks, page details and the citation.
Close paraphrase
The wording changed but the structure or distinctive ideas remain close to a source. Check attribution and rewrite from your own understanding if needed.
Reference material
Titles, legal wording and bibliographic entries can overlap legitimately. Classify them before drawing a conclusion.
Multiple sources
A passage may resemble several copies of the same text. Trace the most authoritative or earliest relevant source.
