Terms and conditions of service
1. Provider, scope and customer status
These terms govern plagiarism checks, AI-writing checks, combined checks ordered through the English-language checkout on plagiatscanner.de. The service provider and contracting party is manimedia, proprietor Markus Nick, Hinterm Zaun 24, 76228 Karlsruhe, Germany; email: kontakt@manimedia.de; telephone: +49 1577 7043630. Full contact and tax information is set out in the legal notice.
A consumer is a natural person acting mainly outside their trade, business or profession. A business customer is a person or legal entity acting in the course of a trade, business or profession. Provisions expressly referring to consumers apply only to consumers.
2. Service and limits of the result
The customer uploads a document, selects a check and receives a generated report. A plagiarism check compares analysable text with sources available to the checking system. An AI-writing check provides probabilistic indicators based on textual patterns. A combined check supplies both types of analysis.
No check can guarantee that every source, copied passage or AI-assisted sentence will be identified. A result does not establish plagiarism, authorship, misconduct or compliance with examination rules. The customer remains responsible for reviewing the report, the underlying sources and the rules that apply to their work.
3. Ordering steps and contract formation
The service pages are an invitation to place an order, not a binding offer. The checkout calculates the number of standard pages from the uploaded document. Before proceeding to payment, the customer can review the file, selected check, page count, unit price, discounts, email address and total and can correct the entries by returning to the relevant step.
Continuing to Stripe opens the final payment step. The customer submits the paid order using the clearly labelled payment button in the Stripe checkout. An authorised full-discount order is submitted using “Get it for free”. We accept the order by email after payment confirmation or full-discount validation. Before processing begins, the email supplies the essential contract details and the full version of the terms and withdrawal instructions, including the model form, applicable to the order. These texts can also be saved or printed before ordering. We do not provide a customer account for retrieving the contract text.
4. Customer responsibilities and upload requirements
The customer must be entitled to upload the document and to have it processed by the providers described in the privacy policy. The customer must provide a working delivery email address and must not upload unlawful content, malware or files that infringe third-party rights. Files must use one of the formats and remain within the size limit shown in the checkout.
We may reject a file that cannot be read, contains no analysable text, exceeds technical limits or creates a security or legal risk. The page count may differ from a word processor’s page count because one standard page is calculated as 1,800 characters.
5. Prices, tax and payment
Plagiarism and AI-writing checks cost €0.29 per standard page; combined checks cost €0.39 per standard page. Their minimum order value is €2.90. The new Submission Check is not yet available to order. Existing orders retain their agreed prices and scope. The final total shown immediately before payment is binding for that order, subject to server-side validation of the selected product, page count and any discount.
Prices are final prices including all applicable taxes. Email delivery has no additional shipping charge. There is no subscription or recurring charge. Payment is handled by Stripe. The hosted checkout is configured for card and PayPal; a method can be unavailable because of the payer’s location, currency, technical context or the payment provider’s checks.
6. Start of performance and delivery
Processing starts after acceptance and transmission of the contract confirmation. The online checkout offers early performance and therefore requires a separate express request to start during the 14-day withdrawal period. Without that request, this immediate-service checkout cannot be used. Contact us before ordering if you want processing to start after the withdrawal period. The legal consequences are explained in the withdrawal instructions.
Plagiarism, AI-writing and combined checks are delivered by email no later than the next business day. Existing Submission Check orders retain their agreed delivery period. If an obstacle outside our reasonable control makes a stated period impossible, we inform the customer without undue delay and explain the available remedy.
7. Cancellation by the provider
Before acceptance, we may reject technically unsuitable or unlawful orders. After the contract is formed, service failures, termination and reimbursement are governed by statutory law; we do not reserve an unrestricted right to cancel. Payments for services that are not owed or definitively cannot be performed are reimbursed as required by law. Other statutory remedies remain unaffected.
8. Statutory remedies
Statutory rights concerning defective performance remain unaffected. If a reproducible technical defect prevents the agreed report from being supplied, the customer should contact kontakt@manimedia.de with the order number so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, repeat the check, remedy the defect or refund the affected service.
A difference from another detector, a legitimate source match, a false positive, a missed source that was not available to the system or a result requiring human interpretation is not by itself proof of defective performance.
9. Right of withdrawal for consumers
Consumers generally have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. The period, procedure, effects, rules for immediate performance and model withdrawal form are set out in the withdrawal instructions. The electronic withdrawal function is available through “Withdraw from contract” in the footer and on the withdrawal page. Statutory exceptions and expiry rules apply only where their legal requirements are met.
10. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under mandatory product-liability law and where we have expressly guaranteed a particular result. For ordinary negligence affecting an essential contractual duty, liability is limited to foreseeable loss typical for this kind of contract, to the extent permitted by law. An essential contractual duty is one whose performance makes the contract possible and on which the customer may ordinarily rely. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
11. Data protection
The processing of uploads, contact details, order data, payment information, service-provider data and consent-based advertising measurement is explained in the privacy policy. The customer should not upload confidential or third-party material unless authorised to use the described processing chain.
12. Contract language and applicable law
English is available as the contract language for orders placed through the English-language checkout. A German-language version is available for the German checkout. German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, this choice of law does not remove mandatory protections that apply under the law of the country of their habitual residence.
13. Consumer dispute resolution
We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. This statement is made for the purposes of Section 36 of the German Consumer Dispute Resolution Act (VSBG). Customers can contact us directly at kontakt@manimedia.de.
14. Applicable version and severability
The version displayed when the order is placed applies to that order. This revision does not retrospectively amend existing contracts or replace their contracting party. If an individual provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain unaffected; the applicable statutory rule takes its place. This does not restrict mandatory consumer rights.
Private revision pilot
The new workspace pilot is not publicly activated yet. Participation requires individually issued access. A previous check order alone does not activate access. The pilot does not automatically create an additional paid order.
One access code permits one processing attempt. The output contains proposed changes and unresolved questions. You must review the revised draft yourself; comprehensive subject-matter correction, compliance with every institutional requirement or a particular detector score is not promised. Another check is a separate service. A completed result can be retrieved using the same access and request until the code expires, for at most 24 hours; recovery does not start another AI processing attempt. Contact support when processing status is uncertain.
